We love a repeat client! C and T called us with the exciting news of their move to the North End of Boise - the caveat? The kitchen that was lackluster at best. It hardly functioned with minimal counter space, broken cabinets, and almost no storage. They love to cook, and knew the space would require a complete overhaul, and called The Collective Haus to make it happen.

This kitchen needed a full-gut remodel. Here's the key changes we made:
The doorway into the kitchen from the dining space and also from the back entry were positioned in such a way that the current set up was likely one of the few ways it could work. However, moving those doorways a bit would completely change the space and allow for a galley-style kitchen, maximizing storage and the much-needed expansion of the work triangle.
Relocation of appliances. The dishwasher was in the way of the stove, and vise versa. The fridge stuck out too far since the space was not sized for standard refrigerators. Our clients dreamt of a Wolf appliance suite, so we selected a range top, a separate wall oven off to the side, upgraded dishwasher with more room to load and unload, and a counter-depth refrigerator that blended seamlessly into the cooktop wall.
Ditching the soffit. With already lower ceilings, taking the cabinets to the ceiling was a must. Not only does it make the space feel bigger, there's more room for dishes.
Historically-led finishes. We turned to raw brass for the sink faucet and cabinet hardware.
An artisan painted custom hood. We had several sessions with a local artist to create the perfect color and texture on their hood while maintaining cleanability.

Our clients knew they wanted moody, vintage vibes, and send inspiration images of zellige tiles and patterned floors.
The green Zellige tile brought a pop of deep color that complimented the custom cabinet stain perfectly. This tile is a thicker style of tile, so we ensured the window casing would sit deeper to accommodate the additional depth.
A black and white large format tile set on the point truly made the space. We toyed with renderings of different sizes of tile, and ultimately landed on this option that filled the space with a little drama.

This space wouldn't have been possible without the talented teams behind Cook Construction, associated sub-contractors and vendors, and Sweetwood Custom Cabinets. Your enduring efforts brought the design to life, thank you for a phenomenal collaboration.
